Lamar Community College to participate in College Goal Sunday

Lamar Community College

(Lamar, Colorado; January 8, 2013) College Goal Sunday is a statewide initiative to assist potential students in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. For the first time Lamar Community College is participating as one of the 16 locations.

The FAFSA is a federal requirement for all students who plan to receive grants, scholarships, student loans or work-study funds to assist in paying for college. Through College Goal Sunday parents and students are able to receive the necessary help in filling the FAFSA out free of charge.

College Goal Sunday volunteers will be available to help potential students and their parents on February 10, from 1-3p in Betz 231 (located in Betz Technology Center).

LCC Financial Aid Director, Teale Hemphill stated “We are happy to act as a host site for College Goal Sunday and offer current and potential college students assistance in completing the FAFSA form. By completing the FAFSA form early in the year, students will have top priority for consideration of grants and scholarships at their chosen institutions.”

The names of attendees who fill out their FAFSA at LCC on February 10 will be entered into a drawing for four $250 scholarships to Lamar Community College.
