Julio C. Vargas

Julio C. Vargas, 80, of Guymon passed away Thursday evening, January 3, 2013 at the Dunaway Manor in Guymon, Oklahoma.

The son of Ascension and Concepcion (Casias) Vargas, he was born January 7, 1932 in Granada, Colorado.  Julio and Erlinda Mary Rios were united in marriage in November 1964 at Pueblo, Colorado.

 Julio grew up in the Lamar, Colorado area, where he worked for Cliff and Beverly Augustine on their ranch near Lamar.  The family moved to Guymon in 1982 and Julio worked for Guymon Livestock.  He was a very hard, dedicated worker and retired in January 2005.  He was a member of the Catholic faith.

Julio was preceded in death by his wife, Erlinda on October 9, 2004; his parents, one brother, Fred Vargas and one granddaughter, Kalie Dawn Vargas.

He is survived by three sons:  Mark A. Vargas and wife, Stacy of Guymon, Julian Vargas and Gwen Martin of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Arthur M. Vargas of Guymon; daughter-in-laws, Jennifer Vargas and Heather Vargas of Guymon; grandchildren:  Shania Vargas, Kenneth Morrell, Colton Vargas, Jalen Vargas, Jonni Noble and Alex James; two sisters: Minnie Herrera and Matilda Duarte, both of Lamar, Colorado, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 There will be a Vigil held on Sunday evening, January 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be Monday morning, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.  Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
