Insurance services in Lamar and Southeast Colorado have a new – yet familiar face, with the start of the New Year.

Lamar resident Nick Palmer formed Golden Plains Insurance Agency, Inc. in mid-2012, and subsequently purchased PJ Wilson Insurance Agency, Inc. The new ownership became effective January 1.

Palmer had worked for PJ Wilson Insurance since 2005, working his way up through the company while earning a reputation for working tirelessly to meet the needs of clients across southeast Colorado.

When Wilson began to consider pursuing other interests after a successful career, he and Palmer began looking for ways to continue meeting the needs of their customers – many of whom represented multiple generations of loyal PJ Wilson Insurance customers.

Golden Plains Insurance Agency was born. In addition to Palmer, Golden Plains employs four other members of the former PJ Wilson Insurance team – Rene Gonzalez, Dawn Goodrich, Malinda Salzbrenner, and Ty Rushton. All are southeast Colorado natives who understand our unique way of life and are ready to help expertly navigate insurance options and needs.

As an independent insurance agency, Golden Plains enjoys the freedom to write policies for many companies, and search for the best offer to meet the needs of customers, not the profit needs of shareholders. Golden Plains Insurance is licensed in Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma, and offers a variety of insurance policies, including:

Crop Hail Customers of the former PJ Wilson Insurance will not need to take any steps to continue their existing insurance coverage. All records and information have been automatically transferred to Golden Plains Insurance Agency, Inc., and policies remain in effect without interruption.

Golden Plains Insurance offices are located at 109 West Lee Avenue, Suite 16, in Lamar; 27925 US Highway 287 in Springfield, and 127 South Main Street in Holly. The offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
