McGruff Waiving to Parade-Goer’s Along Main Street

 

McGruff, The Crime Dog, led the way for the annual 2012, Lamar Chamber of Commerce Parade of Lights this past Friday evening, December 7.  This year’s theme was, “It’s a Wonderful Christmas Story”. 

The colorful entries started their Main Street journey at 6:30pm and concluded their trip just past the Enchanted Forest where Santa Claus debarked from his decorated train and spent some time in his cottage, meeting and chatting with youngsters from the community.

Windmill at Lamar Area Hospice Annual Lighting Ceremony

Residents took advantage of the chilly evening to visit and view the decorations and bargains offered by the downtown merchants, as well as attend the free holiday concert at the Shore Arts Center.

Prior to the parade, the Lamar Area Hospice held their 6th annual Holiday of Lights and Memories lighting ceremony at the windmill at the corner of North Main and West Hickory Streets.

The Lamar Chamber of Commerce announced this year’s float winners:  Best Overall-CDOT, First Place- Ag Feed, Second Place-Walmart and Third Place-Big R.
