Media Release from Lamar Police Department

On Christmas morning, Dec 25, 2012, at approximately 04:40 am, Officers from the Lamar Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of Maxwell Street on a report of two male subjects breaking into cars.  Upon the arrival of the Officers, evidence of someone breaking into vehicles was located, although the suspects were not found in the area.

While Officers were still on scene a second call was received indicating the suspects had relocated to the 700 block of Mullen Street.  Officers then responded to Mullen Street where they located two subjects inside a parked vehicle.  Manuel Navarrette III of Lamar was taken into custody at that location for Criminal Trespass and transported to the Prowers County Jail where he was held on a $4,000 bond.  A male juvenile was also apprehended and referred to the courts.

The resulting investigation revealed that upwards of twenty (20) vehicles had been targeted with actual illegal entry or the attempt of illegal entry during the course of the evening.
