Manuel E. Romero…December 28, 1945 – November 29, 2012

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lamar, Colorado resident, Manuel Ernesto Romero will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 3, 2012 at the St. Francis De Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar, Colorado.  Rosary will be at 9:30 A.M.  Father Henry Aguwa will be the celebrant and burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Lamar, Colorado. Visitation will be held at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with family present from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Manuel Ernesto Romero was born in Hoehne, Colorado on December 28, 1945 to Max and Jennie (Sandoval) Romero.  He passed away on November 29, 2012 at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center Long Term Care at the age of 66.

On February 21, 1970 he was married to Mary Martinez at St. Francis Catholic Church in Lamar. He worked for the Street Department for the City of Lamar for many years than began doing handyman jobs for others. Manuel had a love for fishing, camping, and carpentry.  He shared his passion for riding motorcycles with his nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Romero of Lamar, CO; sisters, Eleanor Leyba of Rocky Ford, CO, and Joan Romero of Denver, CO; brother, Raymond Romero of  Denver, CO; grandchildren, Joseph Winter, Manuel Ray Romero, and Del Keys Romero; one great-grandchild, other relatives and a host of friends.

Manuel is preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Max Romero in 1996; half-brothers, Richard Segura and Paul Joe Segura; and an infant sister.
