LHS DECA Club Competes in Pueblo

The Lamar High School DECA Club traveled to Pueblo West for the District #9 DECA Competition on Nov. 2, 2012. Eighty-one members competed to qualify for State Competition in individual and team events. Students choose the events they were interested in, then took a 100 questions multiple choice test covering marketing concepts. The test was taken at school and the students then competed in 2 role play events in Pueblo. Events range from Automotive Services to Travel and Tourism Team events. Over 800 DECA students from the Pueblo High Schools and Lamar were in attendance for the competition.
Students who qualified for State are: Sarah Blain and Casey Fassiotto for the Hospitality Team Event, Jordan Schwartz and Emily Pritchett for Retail Merchandising Individual Event and Rey Lira for Automotive Services Individual Event. Marketing 2-4 students are also given the option to do a manual event to qualify for the DECA State Leadership Conference to be held Feb. 24-26, 2013.
