Lamar Sales Tax Continues YTD Climb

Although the combined monthly sales tax revenue report for the City of Lamar showed a 1.11% decrease for September, the Year to Date collections showed a 4.13% increase or $112,116.52 gain over 2011 revenue figures.
The 1.11% drop constitutes a $3,123.86 loss comparing September 2012 to 2011. Year to Date figures shows a 3.57% growth rate for general City Sales Tax and a 12.57% increase for Use Tax Collected for a gain of $89,746.58 and $23,864.90 gain, respectively. Other Collections category was off 12.12% for a drop of $1,494.96.
Four of the twelve Retail Sales categories showed Year to Date decreases. They were Furniture/Appliances/Electronics; Grocery Stores; Manufacturing and Other Retail. A comparison of last October’s figures compared to 2012 showed that only two categories posted increases; in Building Materials and Department Stores.
