Heavens Best Carpet Cleaning is a franchise company established in 1987 with locations in North America and Canada, specializing in a low moisture “Dry in 1 Hour” carpet and upholstery cleaning process. In 2012 rankings in Entrepreneur Magazine, Heaven’s Best was ranked #49 overall out of 500 other franchises, #13 out of the top 100 “Home Based” franchises, #10 out of 100 as a low cost franchise. Franchise Business Review Survey shows Heaven’s Best as the #1 in Category #3 out of all Franchises Most popular for Veterans.
Locally, Heavens Best Carpet Cleaning is owned by Joel Woelk, originally from Sheridan Lake, who has operated the franchise since 2002 after purchasing the business from Chuck and Lola Igou, of Eads. Heavens Best has been in the Southeast Colorado area for 20 years, 10 of those years under Mr. Woelk’s management. The initial territory started in Burlington and stretched to Limon along I-70 as well as the towns of Hugo, Flagler, Genoa and Stratton and totaled 5 counties which included Cheyenne, Kiowa, Kit Carson, Prowers and Lincoln. Driving several miles and even hours each day to start a job, the customer base began to grow into other towns including Eads, Kit Carson, Cheyenne Wells, Wiley, Holly and Lamar.
For the first five years Joel maintained daily bookkeeping, inventory, ordering and scheduling himself, as well as doing the work involved in each customers home. In 2006, Joel had an opportunity to expand and bought out another Heaven’s Best franchisor in Baca County whose territory also included Otero County, bringing the operable area to seven counties total. Adding additional area and customers to the business, Joel hired a seasonal employee through busier months to help better serve the clientele. In 2009, Joel moved the base of business to Lamar where it is currently located. The move enabled him to be closer to the majority of his customers as well as provide a new environment with more opportunities and activities for his daughter, Chezne, who is enrolled at Alta Vista School in Lamar. Helping Dad on occasion, Chezne likes to vacuum and run the sprayers Joel uses in his cleaning process. Heavens Best and Mr. Woelk serve around 750 residential and commercial customers a year and Joel still prefers to be a “hands on” owner working alongside a full time employee.
Heavens Best operates under normal business hours five days a week and occasionally on weekends for commercial businesses if needed. Their cleaning process begins with vacuuming and edging areas to be cleaned, followed by spot cleaning areas that require extra attention due to spills or stains. Heavens Best has a full line of specialty cleaners able to remove everything from Kool Aid, coffee and blood to pet urine and odor as well as tar, grease and ink. The main cleaning process is quiet and efficient taking minimal time out of a clients schedule and dry times are close to an hour after the process is complete. Heavens Best follows the cleaning process by raking the carpet, lifting the carpet fibers helping with dry times and giving the carpet a fresh groomed look. Once the carpet area is cleaned and raked, a scotch guard is available and can be applied to cleaned areas upon customer request. Heavens Best also offers upholstery and auto cleaning as well as a tile and grout cleaning system to better serve those customers who wish to have tile surfaces cleaned. Serving seven counties in southeast Colorado, Heaven’s Best has gained the experience and knowledge necessary to uphold high standards of customer satisfaction.
