9TH Annual Fantasy Tree

The 9th Annual Fantasy Tree fundraising event will be held on Saturday, November 17th, 2012, at 6:00 p.m., at the Lamar Elks Lodge, 28157 US Hwy 287, in Lamar.

The Fantasy Tree auction is a fundraising event to support the maintenance and operations of a four county “Safe House” which is operated by the Domestic Safety Resource Center (DSRC). Since their inception in 1986, the Domestic Safety Resource Center has provided domestic violence support and resources to families and individuals living in Baca, Cheyenne, Kiowa and Prowers Counties.

For the past two years, the Fantasy Tree auction has been able to contribute $7,000.00 to the support and operation of the DSRS Safe House. Currently, the home is in need of new windows to provide greater security and to improve the energy efficiency. Therefore, for the 2012 Fantasy Tree auction, the fundraising committee has set a new goal to raise at least $8,000.00 to cover the expense of this much-needed improvement.

The public, of all ages, is invited to attend a fun-filled evening at the 9th Annual Fantasy Tree event. The evening will begin with live music from the fabulous Valley Jazz Orchestra, led by David Northrup; a social mixer including beverages & hors d’oeuvres; special holiday entertainment by the senior dancers from All the Right Moves Dance Studio; the traditional silent and live auctions of beautifully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, and various items generously donated by local merchants and individuals; Santa Clause will be in attendance to greet guests – bringing along professional photographer for those wishing to have their photograph taken with Santa! The evening will conclude with a holiday dance with music provided by Butch Buchannon.

Anyone wishing to make a donation please contact one of the Fantasy Tree Committee members. They request that all donations be brought to the Elks Lodge on Friday, November 16th – trees may be decorated at the Elks on Friday evening. If you have any questions, please contact any committee member.
