State Board Visits Lamar Community College

(Lamar, Colorado; October 10, 2012) Yesterday on October 9, 2012 the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) and the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) President and Executive Staff had their annual visit to the Lamar Community College campus. In attendance were John Trefny, SBCCOE Chair, Rich Martinez, SBCCOE Vice chair, Bernadette Marquez, SBCCOE Member, Dr. Nancy McCallin, President of Colorado Community College System, Rhonda Bentz, CCCS Director of Media and Government Relations, and Jason Hopfer, Lobbyist.

This year LCC highlighted the nationally accredited Nursing Department, their facilities and their partnership with UCCS where students can concurrently earn their Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. The SCCCOE and CCCS visitors were given a tour of the Betz Technology Center where the nursing department is housed. Each visitor was accompanied by an LCC Foundation Presidential Scholar to answer questions throughout the tour.

After the completion of the tour a luncheon was held in the Trustees Building, Buchanan Events Room. Also in attendance were LCC Advisory Council members, LCC Foundation members, LCC Nursing Advisory Council members and LCC President’s Council members.

Lamar Community College would like to thank the SBCCOE and CCCS visitors for making the trip from Denver for the annual visit.
