281 calls for service were made to the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office for this past September, 2012. Lamar had 128 calls with five DUI reports, 17 Warrant Arrests, one MIP and one each for Fraud and Drugs. Forty-three of the calls were Jail Related. Holly made 30 calls in the month, of which eight were for 911 Hang Ups and False Alarms and two were for traffic accidents. There were single calls from Holly for Assault, Domestic Violence, DUI and Drugs. Wiley had 16 calls for service of which four were for Thefts, three on Traffic Accidents and one for Fraud. 104 calls were placed in the County of which 13 were Animal related, 22 for Traffic Accidents, four for Theft, two each for Domestic Violence and DUIs and two for Burglaries. There were 27 warning tickets issued, 25 traffic citations and seven criminal summonses. Seven new cases were assigned to Investigations with 14 cases cleared and subsequent investigations resulted in 24 charges being filed. There are 10 investigations still active with the Sheriff’s Office.
Inmate numbers at the jail were up for September 2012 with total people booked at 108 compared to 94 last year. There were 85 men last month compared to 66 in 2011 and women’s numbers showed 23 for last month, compared to 28 for last year. Year to date bookings are at 1,022. The average number of inmates held each day for September was 47. Nine were reported to immigration authorities.
The Prowers County Courthouse noted 6,014 persons entering the building in September for a daily average of 301. Courthouse Security made six arrests on individuals who had warrants against them. Deputies J. Weisenhorn and C. Elstob arrested Marco Antonio Mungaray, 18, of Lamar, after he was observed selling drugs while at the Gateway Downs Racetrack near Holly. Suspected cocaine was seized and Mungaray was held on $50,000 bond for the charge of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled substance with intent to distribute. Deputies M. Palacios and C. Elstob charged one 19 year old man of possession of drug paraphernalia as a result of a traffic stop in Lamar.
Cost of Meals for September was $10,184.25.
Cost of Inmate Medical Expenses was $1,772.55.
