Local “Thanks” to SDS Staff

Thanks to Kim, Dave and all the staff at SDA (Southeastern Developmental Services) for the terrific time Stacy and her friends, the consumers at SDS, had at the Zoo in Garden City, Kansas. Stacy came home so excited, showing us her Lion King, the stuffed lion obtained at the zoo gift shop as a memento of her trip. Then Stacy told us about all the animals she had seen and the fish she had for lunch. September was a great month for her, as a couple of weeks before, the consumers went on their second fishing trip of the summer.
Thanks also to those who donated money for rodeo tickets in August so consumers could enjoy the treat of BBQ and Rodeo. I also want to thank all those who donated to SDS as the donation fund, Miles of Pennies, pays for these extra trips. Money from the donation jars, aluminum can donations to Walter’s Cans and corn roasts are major sources of revenue to Miles of Pennies. No public monies are used for trips and activities, so donations make a huge difference in the activities consumers look forward to.
Ye Olde Rummage Shoppe, staffed by volunteers and consumers also raise money for extra activities and to make Christmas and other holidays special for our special ones. We especially want to thank the community for their involvement, and without your support and compassion, we would not see so many beautiful smiles on the faces of theses special people.
God Bless,
Doug and Linda Harbour
