Despite the welcome rains from the night before, the streets in Granada were dry enough for the annual homecoming parade on Friday, September 28.

Residents and alumni alike lined the streets from the high school, wearing green tee-shirts in support of the local football team which hosts Wiley for the traditional game on Friday night.

Cheerleaders, players, potential homecoming queens and some local politicians were in the parade which began shortly after 1pm. Most floats tossed candy pieces to the onlookers, while others crowded around to be handed one of 27 dozen frosted donuts which are usually passed around the evening of the bonfire by the Granada Civic Women’s League. That was rained out, but even one day old, the taste was great and the price was right.
