MEDIA RELEASE
The Lamar Street department has spent the past several weeks doing graffiti cleanup of city owned traffic signs. The cleanup is labor intensive and creates a cost to the city. Not only does the painting over of traffic signs inconvenience the public, it can also create a danger to pedestrians and the motoring public.
The Lamar Police Department wants to remind the community that graffiti is illegal when done to another’s property and violator can be prosecuted. Anyone having information about the recent rash of graffiti is encouraged to contact the police department at 336-4341. Should you observe an act of criminal mischief in progress please call police dispatch at 336-3977 or 911.
