Dear Citizens of Prowers County

My term as your state representative for House District is drawing to an end and I want to extend my appreciation to you for allowing me to represent you for the past eight years it has been an honor and a privilege! The upcoming election is fast approaching and I would like to bring to your attention three candidates I whole heartedly support and endorse. I personally know and admire each of the following and encourage you to support and vote for: Christina Martinez; Donald Seufer; and Jillane Hixson.–

Christina Martinez is a county commissioner in Costilla County and she is seeking office for State Senate District 35. Christina was raised on her parent’s cattle ranch and understands the critical issues of Southeast Colorado and I do believe she is as independent as we all of Southeast Colorado are. Ms Martinez has served on numerous boards for water, health, education, and green energy, and is a strong voice for the young the older, farmers and ranchers. I have been at various events and meeting with Christina and can assure you she will make us a great senator.

Donald Seufer is the salt of the earth with tremendous knowledge of water, agriculture, and is full of common sense. He would be a great asset to your county as your commissioner. Mr. Seufer is a lifetime farmer and rancher in the Holly area, a family man with integrity, knowledge, and in-depth understanding of all issues important to Prowers County. Seufer’s experience includes serving as the USDA-FSA Director and as a board member of LAWMA, Amity ‘Canal, Soil Conservation, Cattleman’s Association. Just to name a few. I have known Donnie for several years and you can do no better than have him as your commissioner for District 1.

Jillane Hixson, candidate for Prowers County Commissioner (District 3), has a diverse background and experience that uniquely qualifies her for the position. Ms. Hixson is a 5th generation farmer (Hixson Farms, south of Lamar), former Financial/Business Analyst (IBM – 28 years) where she managed budgets exceeding $100M/annually, … and over the past five years, as a founding board member of Land Owners United, gained political experience and contacts (Republicans & Democrats) at the State Capitol; which I personally witnessed her diligent nonpartisan efforts, working on behalf of land owners, with numerous members of the State Legislature. Jillane Hixson has demonstrated very capable abilities and skills that certainly would make her an excellent Prowers County Commissioner!

Sincerely,
Wes McKinley,
State Representative HD-64–
