2012 Fall Achievements Awards Program for Prowers County 4-H

The 2012 Prowers County 4-H Achievement Banquet was held recently, wrapping up the 4-H year and honoring the achievements of members and leaders. 

Theresa Butler was recognized as the 2013 Prowers County Council President.  Kristina Alm will be vice-president, Miranda Morgan as secretary, treasurer is Holli Pennington, Kylee Holden as reporter and Butler, Morgan and Ashlyn Crossland were recognized as council senators.  Leader Advisors, Toni States, Pam Pennington and Mona Morgan were installed as well. 

Cloverbud members and the 1st, 5th and 10th year member year award pins were presented, as well as special recognition for her 25th year to Sally Depra as a Council Leader.  Other awards included Foundation presentations for various categories in the Sand and Sage Fair, those who competed at the Colorado State Fair and two 4-H members who won Grand Champion in their categories: Katy DeWitt, Grand Champion in Level 1 Photography and Jeffrey Henderson, Grand Champion in Weeds, Unit 3. 

There were two District VI Overall Champions recognized for Year End Horse Awards: Jaci Turner in Intermediate and Jaelin Parker for Junior Category.  The top three winners of the Livestock Record Book Competition were: Wyatt Wollert, Michael Rushton and Brecken Payne.  The Junior Herdsman Awards were presented to four exhibitors at the Sand and Sage Fair:  Weakley Family for Sheep, Joel Souders and Beef, Michael Rushton for Swine and the Rogers Family for Goat.  Breeding Livestock category was won by Theresa Butler. 

Lacey Mann, CSU Extension Agent, presented the award to the Extension Family of the Year, established in 2005.  The award went to the Milton Rink family including Milton, Carol, Brady, and Amber and Fason Freouf.    Rick Robbins and Leonard Pruett made the presentation for the Outstanding 4-H member category.  Outstanding Junior Member was Pearl Daskam, Intermediate Member was Kylee Holden and Senior Member was Joel Souders.   

The Thriftway grocery store was awarded the Friend of 4-H award for their year long contributions to 4-H activities.  The Meritorious Service award was presented to Lori Peterson Payne whose efforts the past year helped spotlight 4-H activities in the community this past year and in numerous years before she became a Foundation member.
