Share the Spirit Foundation (STS) is a grassroots organization founded in 2003. Karen Voepel of Lamar, Colorado and her sister-in–law Tonya Voepel of Sherman, Illinois gave the organization a simple motto, “Helping share the burden of providing for those in need.” STS prides themselves in gathering donors and volunteers in communities to help meet local needs like: new shoes, socks, and school supplies to needy children; partnering with businesses to support needy families during the holidays as well as assist with the weatherization of homes. STS has shared their vision with communities from Colorado to West Virginia, from Illinois to Louisiana and always prides themselves in staying in their local communities to assist and give where needed.
These needs plus other goods and services are met through unique fundraising events that have been held since 2003 in several locations around the nation. One such distinctive fundraising event was held in Southeastern Colorado in October of 2010 featuring Mario Rizzotti, Iron Chef America judge and Academia Barilla culinary specialist. This year will mark the second opportunity local advocates have to be a part of this dynamic, life-giving organization featuring Rizzotti. On October 12, 2012, a fundraiser will be held at Amache Studio, 8 miles west of Lamar on Roads HH and 34.5 to benefit needy children in the southeast corner of Colorado.
