Roberta L. “Bert” Groomer…September 18, 1933 – September 4, 2012

A graveside inurnment service for former longtime Lamar resident, Roberta L. “Bert” Groomer, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday September 14, 2012 at the Riverside Cemetery in Lamar. Ian Blacker of the Lamar Christian Church will officiate the service.

Per Bert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation. 

Roberta L. “Bert” Groomer was born on September 18, 1933 to Robert Lee and Janet (Marshall) Bayse and departed this life on September 4, 2012 at the Southeast Colorado Longterm Care Center in Springfield, CO at the age of 78. 

Bert is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Groomer on March 26, 2011, parents, daughter-in-law Charlene Groomer as well as three brothers and one sister. 

She is survived by her children: Debra Kay Shankle of Jones, OK, Mary Louise Campbell of Ulysses, KS; William R. Groomer, Jr. of Wiley; Lisa (Dale) Theye of Garden City, KS; and Kenneth (Barbara) Groomer of Ulysses, KS as well as by 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and by one sister – Janet Ferrell of Scott City, KS; also surviving are numerous other relatives and a host of friends. 

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Roberta L. Groomer memorial fund in care of the funeral home office.
