The pubic is invited to a statewide candidate’s forum hosted by the Prowers County Farm Bureau at the Rodeway Cow Palace Inn, in Lamar,Tuesday, October 2, at 7pm.
Gary Melcher, Prowers County Farm Bureau President, said the event will run about two hours, but will be open ended, including a general meet and greet for audience and candidates at the conclusion of the forum in the inner courtyard.
The candidate’s appearance will not be held in a debate format, but rather the audience will field the questions directly to each individual candidate. Only one candidate at a time will appear before the audience for a question and answer period which will be moderated. Candidates invited to appear include those in the Prowers County Commissioner’s race, as well as some district and regional races. The two commissioner candidates for District One and Three in Prowers County will appear one, right after the other. Candidates will also have time to make a brief opening statement regarding their candidacy. A total of eight candidates are expected to attend, as well as representatives from Mr. Shaffer and Mr. Gardner’s offices.
Prowers County Farm Bureau Board is not endorsing any candidate and is acting only as a host of the event to provide information to Prowers County voters.
