A Memorial Celebration for former longtime Lamar resident Josephine Irene Swenson will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday September 8, 2012 at the Lamar United Methodist Church with Reverend Ramon Robledo officiating the service. A private family interment will be held at Fairmount Cemetery prior to the memorial service at the church.

In following Jo’s wishes, the casket will be closed during the visitation. Friends are welcomed to come to the funeral home Friday September 7, 2012 from 1:00 PM To 5:00 PM.

Josephine Swenson was born on January 31, 1924 in Bloom, Kansas to Thomas Earl and Annie Elizabeth (Albright) Scott and quietly slipped away in the early morning hours of September 1, 2012 in the Littleton, Colorado care home where she had been lovingly served for the past seven years.

A loving wife, devoted mother, and constant friend, Jo was active in many facets of the life of our community for many years, most notably through the United Methodist Church, as a member of the local P.E.O. chapter and through her antique business.

Jo was preceded in death by John, her husband of 49 years and her brother Wilbur Scott.

She is survived by sons Scott of Littleton, CO and Terry and wife Suzie of Monument, CO; five grandsons and three great-grandsons (with a great-granddaughter on the way).

Jo’s sister Myrland Hertlein of Ardmore, Oklahoma; brother Sam Scott of Bloom, Kansas as well as other relatives and many friends also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to the Lamar United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Peacock Family.
