Valley National Bank is a family owned bank focused on serving the needs of our local community. Our banking history dates way back to 1920 when we began serving customers from the original location of 100 North Main Street and later at 201 South Main in Lamar. In 1980, we opened the doors at our current location, 204 South 4th Street in Lamar. In a move to provide the best in customer service and efficiency, we recently relocated our staff from the branch office to our main bank facility. With the move, a new, state of the art ATM was installed to offer the community 24 hour, easy access to cash at our main bank on 4th Street.
Jim Van Arsdale, President of Valley National Bank, provides strength in leadership and lending. Jim leads a team of over 20 dedicated employees who are local, raise families and support our local retail community. Valley National Bank takes pride in being a strongly vested partner in our community. That’s why you will see our staff actively working for and donating to community organizations such as the Lamar Chamber of Commerce, Lamar Partnership, Inc., Lamar Area Hospice, Rotary, Booster Club…just to name a few. Valley National Bank believes in reinvesting back to our community which is demonstrated by our recent significant donation to Hospice as well as caring for our youth by helping fund the local baseball 4-Plex, one of those fields being named the Valley National Bank Field!
Jim’s 38 years of lending experience is invaluable to the customers of Valley National Bank. As one of The Girard National Bank’s locations, found in eleven communities across Kansas and Colorado, Valley National Bank provides a large lending limit to benefit commercial customers. Along with Jim; Bob England, Delane Schwartz, Steve Lening, Brenda Estrada and Linda Vallejos work to design loans to meet the customer’s needs and reach their goals both now and into the future. We have several bi-lingual employees and loan officers to greet anyone that comes through the door. We also offer long-term, fixed rate home loans through our mortgage company, GNB Mortgage. Keeping the money local allows us to invest back into our community!
Valley National Bank is proud to offer several checking account options to consumers along with Savings, Certificates of Deposit, Holiday Savings, Free Mobile Banking, Free Online Banking & Bill Pay, Debit card fraud alert and more. Rewards Checking®, which allows customers to earn a high rate of return on their checking account, is a popular choice of many customers. For those who enjoy downloading music or movies, REALTunes Checking® is the perfect account to accumulate monthly download credits. Advantage Benefits can be added to any personal deposit account. For only $3.50 per month, customers have access to insurance coverage, LifeLock, Identity Theft coverage, Prescription Drug Discounts, plus shopping, travel and entertainment discounts!

With a full-time, dedicated IT department, you can rest assured the technology utilized in our Personal Online banking, Cash Management and Mobile banking keeps your information safeguarded.
