Commissioner Salazar To Attend Arkansas Valley Fair

Commissioner of Agriculture John Salazar will attend the Arkansas Valley Fair in Rocky Ford on Saturday August 18. During his visit he will participate in a cantaloupe eating contest along with other state and local officials. The public is invited to attend the contest on August 18 at 10:40 AM at the infield located on the fairgrounds. 

Local cantaloupe producers have had a busy season that started two weeks early. The cantaloupe eating contest will assure the public that cantaloupe are a safe and nutritious commodity that is grown locally in the Arkansas Valley. 

Others that will join Commissioner Salazar are Senator Kevin Grantham, Otero County Commissioner Keith Goodwin, Crowley County Commissioner Gary Gibson and Otero County Health Department Director Rick Ritter. Everyone is encouraged to attend the event to support your favorite public official.
