“…and the Walls Come Tumbling Down”

Wallace Gas Station on South Main Street in Lamar is being demolished.
The gas station and Wally Wash car wash has not been in service for several years, as testified by the price of gasohol on the sign in front of the store. Even at 10% gasohol prices, the $2 and change price per gallon dates back to an earlier time.
Cathy Buxton, former owner of the service station, part of the Wallace Gas and Oil Company, said the building has been purchased by Carrigan Excavation in Lamar. There’s no word as of this article what has been planned for the South Main Street site. Look quickly, as there isn’t much standing once the backhoe and bulldozer get done with it.
