There were 305 service calls made in June 2012 by the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office. Lamar had the most calls at 136, followed by calls in the county at 120 and Holly was next at 26. Twenty-three warrant arrests were issued in Lamar, two for Holly and one in the county. Lamar had 38 jail related responses. There were eight thefts reported for the county with two for Lamar and one for Holly. Traffic accidents and related problems were responded to 19 times in the county with one for Lamar and three for Holly. The county also reported 11 calls for assorted animal problems.
The Sheriff’s Department cleared 17 cases in June and had three new cases assigned for investigations. Eleven investigations resulted in charges being field and seven investigations are still open.
Five cases were reported to ICE authorities this past June. People booked at the Prowers County Jail, Year to Date number 686 with 102 booked in June of 2012 compared to 103 the same time last year. Eighty-two men and 20 women are currently incarcerated.
The Prowers County Sheriff’s Department screened 7,858 persons at the County Courthouse in June for a daily average of 374 persons. Courthouse Security made six arrests on individuals who had warrants for their arrests and were seen entering the Courthouse.
Deputy Palacios took information from a citizen of a possible drug deal that occurred in Lamar and contacted Javier Navarrette, 19, of Lamar and found him to be in possession of suspected cocaine. Navarrette was charged with possession of a Schedule 2 Controlled Substance and held on $12,000 bond. Deputies contacted two people on separate traffic contacts and found that they were in possession of suspected marijuana. Both drivers were charged with possession and released on summons.
