Fun! Fun! And More Fun at the Lamar Speedway

It was another night of fun and excitement for everyone that came to the Lamar Speedway Saturday night. It was Scout Night and all of the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts wearing their uniform were admitted Free. At intermission the children were engaged in a tire roll competition. Each contestant was given a swimming pass and got to keep their tire for participating. Hot temperatures and winds have been obstacles for everyone in eastern Colorado this summer. However, the Lamar Racing Club members stepped up to meet these challenges this week to get the track prepared for the night’s events. Club members Keith Stegman, Kelley Morris and Raymond Dechant spent the week, trucking thousands of gallons of water to the track so Don Woller could work the track to a good racing surface. Temperatures began to cool by race time, and with little wind it was a pleasant evening for everyone. There were many prizes and giveaways that were supplied by speedway sponsors, given out by speedway announcer Ryan Simmons.
