The Holly Commercial Club met for their monthly meeting, May 2, 2012 at the Holly Methodist Church. It was announced that the Holly Blue Grass Festival is set for Friday through Sunday, June 8-10. Marge Creech, informed the club that flyers and mailers have been sent out to all who have signed up to receive them. She reported the Pueblo Annual Blue Grass Festival has been going on for 20 years or so, and for the first time it will not be having a performance this year, due to lack of interest etc.
The June activities and entertainment include: Friday night- Dr. Harlan’s Amazing bluegrass tonic will join in on the Jam Session. There is quite a bit more radio advertising this year, there is also an ad in the Discover Magazine for the Holly Blue Grass Festival.
Friday Night’s Meal– it was agreed to have sloppy joes, chips, beans, and cookies for the meal this year. HNCC will be providing the cookies again, if someone wants to make another kind of dessert, they are more than welcome to.
Saturday Night- the High school classes will be proving the meals again, with a variety of options. We will contact Burger King and McDonalds again this year to see if they will donate the drinks. Holly Pride will provide the Sunday lunch to benefit the theater.
Thee will be an auction to benefit the Holly Theater, set for Saturday, May 5th along with the alumni dance, at the Coolidge gym @ 9:00p.m. National Day of Prayer will be held at the Holly Theater May 3rd.
Theater Report: as of right now we have a little over $76,000.00 that has been raised and donated to the theater project. $100,000 is needed to purchase digital projection equipment to continue to show first-run movies.
