Wellness Works is expanding services in its Rocky Ford and Lamar offices. In addition to providing clinical services, Wellness Works staff is available to contract back office work and insurance eligibility/billing for other providers. “We also offer Workplace Wellness services,” said Paul Sedillo, Executive Director. “It’s important for area employers to have access to screening, drug testing, and counseling when their employees experience mental health or substance abuse problems. A healthy workforce is essential for our local economy.” Through Wellness Works, employers have access to smoking cessation classes, health screenings, crisis debriefing, and other resources designed to promote health and wellness.

Since January 2010, Wellness Works has been offering counseling, chiropractic care and other holistic health services to individuals who self-pay or have private insurances under the umbrella of Southeast Behavioral Health Group. Bill Aardsma, licensed professional counselor, has been with Wellness Works from the beginning. “There are so few private mental health practitioners in southeastern Colorado,” said Aardsma. “Wellness Works fills an important niche and gives people much needed options for professionally-credentialed, confidential services. We are flexible, willing to provide services after-hours to accommodate people’s busy lives.”

Dr. Bart White, D.C. joined the Rocky Ford office in early 2012 to replace chiropractor, Dr. Calee McClure. Dr. White is in the Rocky Ford office on Tuesdays. He graduated from Parker Chiropractic College in Dallas in 2007, and began his practice in La Junta at Country Chiropractic. “In addition to my family-run business in La Junta, I welcomed the opportunity to reach out to folks in Rocky Ford through Wellness Works,” said White. “I use a natural-based holistic approach through chiropractic treatment and care.” To schedule an appointment with Dr. White in Rocky Ford, call Wellness Works at (719) 254-7988 or (719) 468-2717.

Dr. David Torres, M.D., is the psychiatrist assigned to Wellness Works by Southeast Behavioral Health Group. Dr. Torres is also skilled in the use of holistic medicine and alternative treatments. He encourages specific dietary and exercise regimens in combination with counseling and medications for people suffering from emotional and psychological ailments.

Wellness Works moved its Lamar office to the High Plains Community Health Center’s Adult Wellness Center building late last year. “I enjoy working with the High Plains staff, and it’s really convenient and accessible for people,” said Aardsma. Counseling appointments with Aardsma are scheduled through the High Plains reception desk at (719) 336-6976. “It’s a true one-stop-shop,” said Aardsma.

Space is now available in the Rocky Ford Wellness Works building for vendors interested in sub-letting offices to provide health-related services. New vendors are encouraged to call Paul Sedillo at (719) 383-5439.
