Planning for the Future at LCC Career Fair

Area students and adults alike had an opportunity to evaluate their future careers during this week’s annual Career Day, held at Lamar Community College.
About thirty vendors, some from as far away as Pueblo and Kansas answered questions regarding their occupation’s requirements, benefits and opportunities at the LCC Wellness Center, Wednesday, April 18. Elizabeth Whitham, Director of the Business Faculty said students from the region attended the event, gathering information on potential job opportunities when they completed their educations. LCC students as well as high school students from Walsh, Granada and Wiley, and other area schools attended.
Break Out Sessions were conducted with topics ranging from: How People Get Employment, Researching the Right College, Insights into the Next Academic World, The Five Steps of College Academic Success and Academic Financial Literacy. Various career opportunities were presented from such diverse businesses as: Skyland Grain LLC, Lamar Police/Fire Department, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, U.S. Navy/Air Force, St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center, LCC, KLMR/KVAY, Kennedy & Coe, LLC and others.
