The public is invited to join the Prowers County Historical Society at their General Meeting, April 19, at 7:00 p.m. at Big Timbers Museum. The program is “The Schools of Prowers County.” Joe and Karen Marble, with Alta McBee, are collecting information on the location and history of every school in the county. They have located 95 schools so far, but don’t have much information on some of them. In addition to telling about this project, they are hoping that people who have photographs or information about any of the schools will be willing to give them copies for their project.

Information will also be available on accessing the newly released 1940 Census data for Prowers County. The Prowers County Historical Society is working on creating a printed version of the files for those who do not have computers or online access.
