Lamar Library’s Spring Book Sale Offers Ample Selections

Plenty of Books to Go Around at Cultural Events Center

Arms laden with books of all kinds, folks who enjoy reading roamed up and down the tables of books on display this past Sunday, April 1, looking for their favorite authors, or searching for a new one at the Lamar Cultural Events Center.

The Spring Book Sale, hosted by Friends of the Lamar Library is underway through this Wednesday, April 4. Lamar Librarian Deb Reynolds said earlier last week, there have been a lot of donations, more than last year, so there should be a lot of selections for everyone. That proved to be the fact, as volunteers had to unload boxes of books under the tables, that they didn’t have room for, on top of the tables. Mysteries, general novels and romance themes dominate the subject matter, but there are selections for crafts, cooking, biographies, western and video collections as well as self-help and how-to books.

Books cost $1 hard cover and fifty cents for a paperback. The cookies and other pastries are part of the hospitality. The cream cheese filled strawberries didn’t last long at all. Customer sales ranged from only a dollar or two, to several loads of books in boxes. Donations are still being accepted through the week until Wednesday. That’s the bargain book day when you can fill a bag of books for only a few dollars. The proceeds are used by Friends of the Lamar Library for a variety of purposes to benefit library patrons.
