On March 16th, members of the Lamar Chamber Honkers and Board of Directors paid a welcome visit to Kelly Corman at the local NRCS office. Kelly moved to the area last September to work in the Lamar NRCS Field Office at 3503 South Main. Kelly works with Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory (RMBO) and performs many duties as a Private Lands Range/Wildlife Ecologist, but his main focus is working on the Lesser Prairie Chicken Initiative. This is a five state effort to improve habitat for the Lesser Prairie Chicken, to benefit the land owners and ultimately the Lesser Prairie Chicken population. If you see Kelly around, please say hi and welcome him to Lamar. To find out more about the Lesser Prairie Chicken Initiative, call 719-336-9059.
