PMC Offers Stars for Sale

Jeremy Cooper with Artwork

Over time, the newly painted blue walls leading to the east entrance of the New Beginnings Birth Center at Prowers Medical Center will be star-studded.  Parents and grandparents are invited to purchase a commemorative star to represent the birth of a new family member.  The proceeds will go to the PMC Foundation.  The “A Star is Born” program features engraved four or six inch stars that will line the wall under the specially cast stars produced by local artist Jeremy Cooper.

Bryant and Cooper Display Commemorative Stars

Mike Bryant, Foundation Director said the four inch stars allow for the baby’s name and birth date and the six inch stars can be engraved with additional information, such as family members and/or a brief message.  Bryant and Cooper decided the shooting star should be more ‘whimsical’ in nature instead of just a generic representation.  Cooper cast the star from aluminum and his works have been on display at various showings, including the Shore Arts Center and local art guilds.  His works can be viewed at his website, artbycooper.com.  James Fairchild, Chief Executive Officer of Prowers Medical Center said there’s ample wall space beyond the two that have been painted to display the first stars that will be highlighted.
