Business of the Week – Ron Austin Repair Shop

You help your community thrive when you shop locally!

Be sure to read The Prowers Journal each week when the Lamar Chamber of Commerce
and The Prowers Journal highlight a featured Business of the Week.

This week we are proud to spotlight Ron Austin Repair Shop, located at  400 North Main in Lamar.

How fortunate to have a father and son relationship grow and prosper not only in family, but also in business. The Ron Austin Repair Shop is a well-recognized name in Lamar, Colorado. Originally purchased from Joe Oliver by the late Ron Austin in 1977, then once again by Ron’s son and current owner Cameron Austin in 2009. Ron Austin Repair is conveniently located at 400 North Main Street in Lamar and can be reached at 719-336-2542.

Cameron began working for his father in the repair shop when he was just a teenager. Watching and learning from Ron, Cameron followed in his father’s footsteps both as a mechanic and as a businessman. Gaining experience from tech school training, Cameron expanded his skills as a mechanic. When given the opportunity of leaving the community, Cameron chose to stay and work with his dad. These two men’s love for cars also contributed to Austin Motor Sales located right next door at 318 North Main. Ron began Ron Austin Motor Sales in the late 1990’s and Cameron took ownership and changed the name to Austin Motor Sales in 2011. Austin Motor Sales specializes in used auto sales and also accepts orders for specific autos. The motor sales can be reached at 719-336-0525.

Ron Austin Repair Shop has over 50 years of combined experience. Richard Hendrickson, Jared Hayes and Cameron Austin are a terrific trio of mechanics specializing in general auto repair. Rich has worked for the shop for 40 years and has seen the change in the auto industry first hand. Jared is beginning his 6th year for the repair shop and is ASE Master certified. The shop offers repairs in both gasoline and diesel engines, including repairs in rebuilt engines and transmissions, transfer cases and differentials.

Ron Austin Repair Shop was built on the highest quality standards of honesty and consistency. We strive to offer the best service to our customers so they have the most positive experience possible. A reputation is everything and strength and stability will help our community thrive and prosper. Sadly this community lost Ron Austin to Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) in 2010, but the morals and values that he taught us are an example that we will strive to continue and serve our community.

Cameron acknowledges over and over how very fortunate he was to have the opportunity to work side by side with his father every day. “That’s something I hold very dear to my heart and something I am so thankful for,” says Cameron.
