North 3rd Street Attic Fire on Saturday, No Injuries

A ceiling fan caused an attic fire Saturday, in the 300 block of North Third Street in Lamar.  Members of the Lamar Fire and Ambulance Departments responded at the call at 11:30am.

The fire was confined to the attic space on the first floor of the house.  The cause is still under investigation.  A battery operated smoke alarm gave the residents the first alert of the fire.  Insulation around a ceiling fan in the bathroom on the first floor was the first material to ignite.  The fire was confined to that primary area.  Responding crews cleared the residence at 1:05pm.
