A memorial service for longtime Lamar resident George C. Woodward will be held at the Peacock Funeral Home on Saturday, March 3rd at 2:00 PM with Reverend Kathy Leathers of the Holly United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
Per George’s request, cremation will take place and there will be no visitation.
George was born February 22, 1936 in Lebo, Kansas to Samuel and Evangeline Woodward and departed this life on February 18, 2012, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 75.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam & Evangeline Woodward; wife, Billie Woodward; and son, Jay Woodward.
George is survived by his children Lee (Karen) Woodward of Canon City, April Woodward of Pueblo, Terry (Angela) Woodward of Lamar, Kim Woodward of Lamar and Melanie (Chris) Evans of Owasso, Oklahoma; grandchildren Melissa (Strider) Swope, Ehren (Andrea) Licano, Jeremy (Lindsey) Woodward, Zach McEvoy, Tyrel (Kristin) Woodward, Seth (Lindsey) McEvoy, Dustin McEvoy, Courtney Adams, Tausha Woodward, Taryn Woodward, Skyler Evans, Abigail Evans, Tianne Woodward, and Amber Evans; and 8 great-grandchildren. George is also survived by his sisters Francis (Irvin) Littau of Pueblo, Irene (Mike) Tefertiller of Holly, Pearl (Kenny) Reyman of Holly, and brother Walt (Mary) Woodward of Washington as well as numerous nieces and nephews, various relatives, and many friends.
