Prowers County GOP Caucus Set for February 7

NEWS RELEASE:
The Prowers County Republicans, along with Republicans throughout the state of Colorado, will be holding precinct caucuses on Tuesday February 7th, starting at 7:00 p.m.
This year, as in the past few years, Precincts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 will hold a combined caucus at the Missionary Baptist Church at 507 S 14th St in Lamar, Co. We will serve a pot luck dinner prior to the combined caucus in Lamar at 6:00 p.m.
Precincts 2 and 13 will hold a combined caucus at the Holly High School library with their meeting starting at 7:00 p.m.
We currently have two County Commissioner seats, County Commissioner District Three and County Commissioner District One that will be up for election this November. There are presently two announced candidates for each seat. Henry Schnabel, incumbent and Mike Parker have both announced to seek election to District One, and Wendy Buxton-Andrade and Roger Stagner are both seeking the District Three seat nomination. The District Three seat is currently represented by incumbent Gene Millbrand who recently announced his intention not to seek another term.
During the evening we will conduct a preference poll that allows people to vote on the Republican Presidential Candidate of their choice. Those votes will be tallied and sent to the State Party as part of a state-wide stroll poll being taken that night.
The primary purpose of the caucus is to elect delegates to the Prowers County Republican County Assembly set for March. The County Assembly delegates will vote on all candidates nominated for local office.
If you registered as a Republican by December 7th you are qualified to attend and participate in the caucus process. We encourage anyone who is interested in getting involved to attend and get to know your local candidates, as there will be time for each of them to introduce themselves to those in attendance.
