Marcelino D. “Billy” Venegas…June 2, 1943 – January 12, 2012

A Mass of Christian burial for longtime Hartman resident, Marcelino D. “Billy” Venegas, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the St. Frances de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar with Reverend Charlie Sena as Celebrant; burial will follow at Hartman Cemetery.

            A rosary/scripture service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Frances de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Deacon Henry Wertin reciting.

            Visitation for Billy will be held from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Peacock Family Chapel in Lamar.

            Billy was born on June 2, 1943 at La Junta, Colorado to Donancio and Leonicia (Baca) Venegas and passed away on January 12, 2012 at his daughter’s home in Lamar at the age of 68.   He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother; Leo Baca.

            Billy is survived by his wife Maria Teresa Venegas of the family home in Hartman, children; Marie (Tim) Borunda of Lamar, Marcelino Jr. (Tina) Venegas of Holly, Cecelia (Ralph) Gonsalez of Hartman, Rosemary (Andrew) Palmer of Hartman, Carmen (Jaime) Sanchez of Edmond, Oklahoma, Gabriel (Melissa) Venegas of Hartman, Freddy (Carrie) Venegas and Mary Ellen (Lawrence) Martinez all of Granada. He is also survived by his 32 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and siblings; Mary Ramirez, Mercy Salamanca, Rita Carrillo, Cora Sigalla, Gloria Aguilar, Leonard Venegas, Charlie Venegas and Albert Romero as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.

            The family of Marcelino D. “Billy” Venegas would like to thank the staff of the Lamar Area Hospice for their love, kindness, and support that they have provided over the past few months.
