Lamar Free Fall Clean Up Set for October 8

There were so many events on the calendar this past spring; the city of Lamar did not have an open date for the bi-annual, city-wide clean-up. As a result, a lot of us may have a little more to throw out for the free fall clean-up, set for Saturday, October 8.
Pick-ups will run between 7am and 4pm in city neighborhoods. Volunteers and employees helping out should report to the city Public Works Department, October 8 at 6:30am. (remember your work gloves) All refuse should be on the curb no later than 7am that morning. You’re asked not to have it placed the night before, and to be sure to separate items and keep liquids labeled, so there’s no guess work about materials. Each street will be visited only once, so don’t delay when it comes time to get your junk moved to the curb. Some items will be separated according to composition:
Not Accepted:
Asbestos, demolition debris, junk vehicles and burn barrels.
Accepted Items:
Tires, treated wood, latex/oil base paint, white goods such as fridges, freezers, tv’s, computers, tree limbs and yard waste (bag your leaves), drained oil filters, used oil and antifreeze must be delivered to the Public Works Department at 103 South 2nd Street.
Fire Department will Accept:
Lead acid batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, pesticides (household or herbicides), poison (only household hazardous waste, cleaners, solvents, rodent control) and identified liquids.
Lunch will be provided at Noon at Willow Creek Park for all volunteers and employees. October 8 will also be a free dump Saturday for the City Landfill and City Transfer Station.
