Fire Safety is All the Time, Not Just October

October is National Fire Prevention Month, and the Lamar Fire Department has been spreading the message, visiting schools and pre-schools last week, conducting fire prevention activities, describing their equipment and offering safety information that is geared to the student’s age.
This past Wednesday, firemen visited Little People’s Preschool, Melvin Hendrickson Pre-school, Wiley Preschool and later this month, a visit will be to the Welcome Home Pre-school on October 25.
Captain Jeremy Burkhart, Fire Department staff, and some ‘unofficial’ assistants who look like they came in from Sesame Street, provided information and entertainment for the Melvin Hendickson Pre-school students.
The youngsters, aged three to five, gave their undivided attention to some of the more colorful team members who offered various smoke and fire safety tips.
