City Water Tank Being Refurbished

Manzanares Construction Services has been at work south of Lamar, refurbishing the city’s large water storage tank. The restoration project had been delayed from last spring as another contractor had been unable to meet the completion dates. City officials decided to postpone work on the tank until the peak water demands of the summer had passed.
The project calls for the exterior of the older six million gallon tank to be sandblasted and repainted by the end of October. Additional work will take place inside the tank which will eventually be drained so the rehabilitation and paint work can be completed through November. The project is being paid for by the 0% ARRA loan and the 2.5% State Revolving Fund loan the city received last year.
