The Colorado State Patrol is investigating an accident involving a Dodge Dakota which resulted in property and injury damage in Prowers County.
The Dodge Dakota was eastbound on Colorado 50 at milepost 438, at 7:30pm Wednesday, when it went off the left side of the roadway into a broadside skid and collided with a power pole. The vehicle then rolled one-half time and came to rest on its top. The force of the collision and overturning of the vehicle resulted in the driver being trapped in the vehicle.
The report from the Lamar Fire Department indicated that power lines were draped over the vehicle. Lamar Light and Power cut electricity to the lines at approximately 8pm and entry was made to the accident victim by removal of the passenger door once the car had been stabilized. The driver’s head had become pinned between the steering wheel and the roof to the vehicle. The driver was stabilized and transported to Prowers Medical Center.
Alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor to the accident.
