Sun+Fun+Food+Beer+Games+Music+Dancing=Oktoberfest

The weatherman has forecast an ideal day this Saturday for the annual Oktoberfest celebration at the Lamar Chamber of Commerce offices.

Participants in the Fun Run and Poker Run will have between 9 and 10am on Saturday to register for the morning event, and all cars and motorcycles are welcome.

Arts and Crafts exhibits and vendors will start their displays at 10am while the Pumpkin Carving entries are registered between 10am and Noon.  Judging of the carvings will take place at 2pm and winners will be announced at 3pm.

The beer garden will open for business with the traditional, ‘tapping of the keg’ at 11am and will remain open until 10pm.  Voces Unidas will keep the brats and sauerkraut coming until 4pm.  The high energy Celtic band, The Stubby Shillelaghs, have several performances scheduled through the day, from 11am to Noon, 3-4pm and from 4:30 to 6pm.  Other entertainment features the Ark Valley Wind & Percussion Ensemble from Noon to 1:30, Wild West Athletics members will perform between 2-3pm and All the Right Moves will show their steps from 4 to 4:30.  The music bands, ‘Judi’ and ‘Second Chance’ will play through the evening, starting at 6:30pm.

Other action events include Motorcycle Games on East Beech Street at 1:30 and the Poker Run Winners will be announced at 2:30pm.  The kids can wear themselves out on the free Inflatable Rides and Games provided by Iberdrola and Lamar Light and Power from Noon to 5pm.  Chamber members hope that along with enjoying the Oktoberfest activities, folks take time to shop our local downtown retail stores.
