George W. Helsel … August 19, 1927 – September 2, 2011

              A graveside funeral service for longtime Prowers County resident, George W. Helsel, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday September 6, 2011 at the Hillside Cemetery in Granada, Colorado.  Reverend Roy Gueswel will officiate the service.
            Visitation for George will be held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday September 5, 2011 at the Peacock Family Chapel in Lamar.
            George W. Helsel was born on August 19, 1927 in Pratt County, Kansas to Millard B. Helsel and Anna R. (Bissitt) Helsel and departed this life on Friday September 2, 2011 at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 84.
            George was preceded in death by his parents; by two sisters; and four brothers.
            Mr. Helsel is survived by one sister – Patsy A. Smith of Lamar; by his neighbors – The John Benson Family; and by ten nieces and nephews.
            The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to a charity of donor’s choice either directly or through the funeral home office.
