SEXUAL ASSAULT ARREST (Lamar Police Department Release)
On Tuesday, 09/27/2011, a warrant was issued for Darryl Lingle, age 27 in Prowers County District Court for Two (2) counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. The charges stemmed from an investigation initiated by the Lamer Police Department and conducted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Several search warrants were served during the investigations. A personal computer and data storage devices were seized during the execution of those search warrants. Those items are being examined by the Monument Police Department forensic computer unit. The Pueblo Police Department Special Victims Unit assisted in the forensic interviews in this case.
Lingle, a former Lamar reserve police officer and a former Kiowa County Deputy, was implicated in the case in early September. At the time the allegations against Lingle came to light, he was placed on administrative leave by the police department. The CBI was contacted and requested to conduct the criminal investigation. During the investigation of the alleged sexual assault, Lingle was arrested on a restraining order violation and subsequently discharged as a reserve police officer.
Lingle surrendered himself at the Prowers County jail where he was booked pending a $20,000 bond.
