A casual dress, dinner dance and auction held this past Saturday, August 27, helped raise funds for the Lamar Area Hospice. The annual event was held out doors at Brad Semmens’ Country Acres RV Park and Motel and catered by Mike Marinac’s Caterers. The open bar, providing cocktails, beer and wine was compliments of A & B Liquor in Lamar. The event contributes funds for the annual activities of the Lamar Area Hospice. Rob Morlan kept the bidding going during the live auction, and the band, Wooden Nickel provided music through the night, until the end of the party.
Funds are raised through donations, a live and silent auction and from ticket sales for the dinner dance. It was also announced at the outset of the evening that an additional $5,000 was raised for Hospice by the annual Angel’s Open golf tournament two weeks earlier, on August 14, at Spreading Antlers Golf Course in Lamar. The proceeds from the dinner are being tabulated, and following that, a check for the golf proceeds and the dinner dance will be presented to the Lamar Area Hospice.
The Lamar Area Hospice has been serving southeast Colorado since the early 1980’s and provides respite care for the terminally ill and their families. Hospice activities are supported primarily through donations. (photos courtesy of Lisa Thomas)
