LCC’s Volleyball Program Set for New Season

Coach Chris Weber

Lamar Community College’s new Women’s Volleyball Coach, Chris Weber, has hit the ground running. He has a roster of athletes ready for play this fall, completed the schedule, organized the college’s annual LCC Runnin’ Lopes Volleyball Tournament, and will hold a high school camp before school begins. “We are really excited about this year. We have seven players returning and four additional recruits coming,” commented Weber. “I’m just looking for a few additional players to round out the roster.”

While the Runnin’ Lopes Volleyball program will hold a high school volleyball camp on August 8-10, Weber is also looking forward to hosting the college’s Runnin’ Lopes Tournament on August 26-27, the Lopes’ first home appearances.

Saying Coach Weber lives volleyball is an understatement. He has been a player for twenty-seven years, taught volleyball for eleven, and is still striving to learn more. Chris Weber joins LCC after leading Lackawanna College (Scranton, PA) to a much improved 2010 season, where his squad finished 9-9 overall. Weber started coaching at Lackawanna in August of 2009, with no returners and a team that was winless since 2006. While at Lackawanna, Weber’s players were named as first team All-Region, ranked in the top five for NJCAA national statistics, and selected as an all region tournament team player. Additionally, his players received the Lackawanna College all-sport sportsmanship award and its top athlete academic award.

Weber has also helped to develop community volleyball programs. For example, he co-founded, organized, and coached for Club Precision, a team representing the Lehigh Valley (PA). Players from Club Precision have played internationally, representing Juniata College in earning two national championships. More than two dozen former players are now coaches themselves. As a player, Chris amassed more than a hundred tournament wins over his fifteen years as an AA/Open doubles outdoor player. He has also played indoor ball representing the Garden Empire Volleyball Association in both 2010 and 2011 at the USA adult volleyball nationals.Since the start of his coaching career, he has attended numerous coaching clinics and is currently IMPACT and CAP Level I certified by USA Volleyball.

Weber was born and raised in Kutztown, PA. He attended Lehigh Carbon Community College, where he earned his Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts. As a player, Weber was captain, starting setter/outside hitter and assisted his team in winning two EPCC division championships. Chris completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, Social Studies Teaching, at Kutztown University. As a Kutztown team member, he played middle, outside and DS. He completed his Master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, with a minor in Trauma Studies from Chestnut Hill College in 2006. Weber will assist LCC in the classroom by teaching psychology courses this fall. For more information regarding becoming an LCC Volleyball player or attending the upcoming Runnin’ Lopes Volleyball Camp, contact Chris Weber at 336.1673 or Christopher.Weber@lamarcc.edu.
