Lamar World Series Committee Wrapping up Final Details for Games

The Lamar 16 & Under All-Star Softball Team will be busy with four games on tap the first four days of the World Series at Citizens Field in Lamar. Lamar is the only known team at this point, as all others must make it through a series of play-offs to earn the nod to come to Lamar to compete in play, beginning August 6. The championship game will be played August 13. The Lamar All Star Team is coached by Mindy Medina. The All Star team consists of members: Tianne Woodward, Ariana Perales, Chanel Tirado, Sara Turner, Swayzee Bellomy, Hillary Perales, Vanessa Galindo, Abbie Reed, Jerika Melgoza, Chelsea Vallejos, Hannah Coin, Demi Ownby, Lexi Coen, Jeni Vargas-Soto and Miveya Aguirre. Other coaches are Eddy Bellomy and Taryn Woodward.
The Lamar All Stars are scheduled to go against Pacific Northwest-in the National Division at 8pm on Saturday, August 6. Their next round will be Sunday at 5:30pm against the team from the Pacific Southwest region. Pool play will take the team into Monday evening at 8pm against the National Team from New England, and Tuesday’s match-up will be at 5:30pm against the team representing the Ohio Valley. Double elimination play will begin on Wednesday at 1:30pm with the second place National team taking on the third place American league team.
Tournament wristbands are now available, as well as banquet tickets for the dinner at Lamar Community College on August 5. Family wristbands for the entire series cost $50 for two adults and three children. Adult wristbands are priced at $35, child wristbands for ages 5-12 are $25 and children under 5 years are admitted free. Daily admission hand stamps at the gate are priced at $15 per adult and $10 for a youngster, and again, kids under 5 years are free. The banquet tickets are $15 per person and all tickets are now available at PCDI, 201 South Main, Lamar. The World Series committee is meeting every Wednesday morning at 9am at the Lamar Chamber offices.
