Lamar Light and Power Update on July 13 Power Outage

Lamar Light and Power, Press Release Update

It is our understanding from discussions last night (July 13) with Tri State Transmission dispatch and an article in today’s Pueblo Chieftain, that at approximately 5:30 Wednesday night, Xcel Energy had four of their transmission lines trip off line as did both the Comanche #1 and Comanche #2 power plants.  This resulted in a wide-spread outage that extended from Canon City to the Kansas border and from Pueblo to the New Mexico border.

Because of our location on the eastern end of the transmission grid, the substations in and around the Lamar area were among the last to have service restored.  Power was restored to all our substations at about 9:00pm last night.

As of this time we have not received information from neither Xcel nor Tri-State as to the reason why the transmission system tripped off-line.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the offices of Lamar Light and Power, 719-336-7456.
