Governor John Hickenlooper recently appointed Chana Reed of Lamar to the State Board of the Great Outdoor Colorado Trust Fund. Reed has served on a number of tourist oriented committees in Lamar and Prowers County for numerous years, including the County Fair Board, Babe Ruth World Series Committees and Prowers Lodging Tax Panel. She has been the secretary of the Lamar Chamber of Commerce for 20 years as of this December.
Reed fills a slot reserved for a Republican from the 4th Congressional District. Her term expires April 15, 2015. The trust uses state lottery proceeds to purchase and enhance Colorado’s recreation areas, parks, wildlife, wildlife habitat and open spaces. Peggy Montano, GOCO Board Chair, notified Reed that she will be appointed to one of GOCO’s committees which meet prior to Board meetings to make recommendations to the full Board.
Reed will attend a two-day meeting in October in Grand Junction and separate Board meetings in Denver in November and December in Greeley. It is at one of those two meetings where GOCO makes the majority of its grant awards for the year.
